Darker Nights See a Rise in Village Crime

Figures published today by Rushcliffe Police show that the number of crimes reported in Ruddington increased again last month – after a relatively quiet summer.

Statistics for October 2018, listed day by day, were as follows:-

1st  Theft from a motor vehicle at a property on Brettsil drive
+ Theft of a vehicle from a premises in the centre of Ruddington

3rd  Criminal Damage at a property on Clifton Road where the offender was identified

5th  Criminal Damage to a gate on Asher Lane

6th  Theft from a property on Clifton Road
+ Criminal Damage at a property on Ashworth Avenue
+ Violence to a person in the centre of Ruddington

9th  Crime – other – at a property on Fuller Street
+ Theft from a motor vehicle at a property on Salcombe Crescent
+ Burglary at a property on Sellars Avenue

10th  Violence to a person on Clifton Road
+ Theft from a motor vehicle at a property on Paget Crescent

11th  Theft from a business on Loughborough Road

13th  Theft from a vehicle at a property on Marshall Drive
+ Criminal damage to a property on Clifton Road
+ Road Related offence in the centre of Ruddington (arrest made)

15th  Theft from a vehicle at a property on Tongue Way
+ Burglary at a property on Tongue Way

17th  Criminal damage at a property on Clifton Road

20th  Violence to a person at a premises in the centre of Ruddington (arrest made)

23rd  Criminal Damage at a property on Elms Gardens

26th  Burglary at a property on Pear Tree Orchard

27th  Burglary at a property on Ling Crescent

31st  Theft from a business on Loughborough Road

These figures indicate a 26% rise in recorded offences in our village since September – and over DOUBLE the number logged in August. They include one car stolen, five thefts from vehicles and four burglaries. There was also an unusually high amount of criminal damage reported.

Rushcliffe Police commented: “We’re out patrolling, and it’s surprising to see how many houses are in darkness, and with no cars on the drive. Maybe you’re still at work or travelling home? Now the days are shorter and the nights longer #LeaveALightOn for when you get home to deter those burglars.”
